Guide to Teeth Replacement Options

Frequently Asked Questions

What is All-on-4® Teeth in a Day?

All-on-4® Teeth in a Day is a procedure that uses dental implants to replace the entire upper or lower set of teeth, all in one day!  Rather than placing one dental implant per missing tooth, we are able attach a full set of teeth to as little as 4 dental implants. This treatment is ideal for people who need one arch (upper or lower) or all their teeth replaced. Whether you have no teeth or need the remaining teeth removed, this is the most natural tooth replacement option.

Is it really possible to have teeth extracted, dental implants placed, and new teeth attached to the dental implants all in one day?

Yes! Unlike with other dental implant options which can take six months or even years to complete, the All-on-4® Teeth in a Day technique allows us to attach a new set of teeth to the dental implants all in one day. Reducing costs, healing time, and the need for additional surgeries is what makes All-on-4® Teeth in a Day a great value.

How long does the All-on-4® Teeth in a Day process take from start to finish?

At Quality Denture and Implant Center, our doctors and in-house lab are able to complete your entire procedure in one day. This includes having the temporary teeth securely attached to your implants. You will wear your temporary teeth for 4-6 months before receiving your final implant teeth. During this time expect to see your doctor periodically for check-ups and minor adjustments. This will allow for your body and dental implants to fully heal and your final teeth to have the best fit. Our experienced team will work with you to help design your final teeth to reflect the perfect smile you always dreamed of.

Why is it called Teeth in a Day when I don’t get my permanent teeth until 6 months after the procedure?

All-on-4® Teeth in a Day has this name because temporary teeth are secured to your implants the day of surgery. Since there is a healing phase for your mouth and implants, it is best to start with temporary teeth and have a final set of teeth made after the healing process is complete. At Quality Denture and Implant Center we don’t charge you any extra for this. This ensures we get you the best, most predictable outcome.

What about out of town or out of country dental offices that offer final teeth in a day?

While this can be a good option for some patients, there can be serious disadvantages that cannot be overlooked. In the rare event of complications or teeth breakage, you would likely have to travel back to that office to have it addressed as it can be difficult to find a dentist who can or is willing to fix it without incurring a significant cost.

The temporary set of teeth allows you to try out your new teeth and let our doctors know if there are any changes you would like to have made to your final teeth. These changes can be made in the final set of teeth and can even be previewed in your mouth before it is finished.

A temporary set of teeth also allows your gums and dental implants to completely heal before making your final set.  This is important so that your final teeth fit exactly to your healed mouth and gums and can account for gum shrinkage, thereby minimizing food packing and giving you the best long term success with your new teeth.

Even offices that advertise final teeth within 24 hours still require additional work, relines, or a completely new set of teeth later on. We don’t believe in shortcuts and take the time to ensure our patients get the absolute best results.

What if I was told I wasn’t a candidate for dental implants before?

We have helped many patients who have been told they are not candidates for dental implants. Thanks to advances in dental technology, the All-on-4® Teeth in a Day in a day procedure has been able to change the lives of those who were previously not candidates for dental implants or required extensive and costly bone grafting. To find out if you are a candidate for All-on-4® Teeth in a Day, schedule your FREE consultation today.

I have been wearing dentures for years, can I still be a candidate for All-on-4® Teeth in a Day?

Yes! We have helped countless patients who are currently wearing dentures and want more confidence with their teeth. Many denture patients can even save money over time by not having to pay for denture relines and adhesives.

How many implants do I need for All-on-4® Teeth in a Day?

The All-on-4® Teeth in a Day procedure uses as little as four dental implants to secure an entire set of teeth. If additional implants are recommended and placed, there will be NO extra cost to our patients. Most cases are completed with 4 to 6 implants.

How long do All-on-4® Teeth in a Day dental implants last?

With proper care and maintenance, dental implants can last many decades or a lifetime. Dental implants do not get cavities, but they can get gum disease just like natural teeth. It is important to clean your dental implants multiple times a day and have regular dental visits.

Will the teeth always be attached to the dental implants the day of surgery?

The vast majority of patients (98%) will have their new teeth attached to the implants the day of surgery.  We do our very best to predict this before the procedure is performed utilizing state of the art cone beam CT technology.  However, if the dental implants do not achieve enough stability, a traditional denture will need to be worn while the dental implants heal and become stable (4-6 months).

Are the All-on-4® Teeth in a Day teeth removable?

No, they are securely attached to your dental implants. Only your dentist can remove them. Regain your confidence so you can smile, speak, eat, and laugh with those you love.

Does All-on-4® Teeth in a Day move or rock?

No, your All-on-4® Teeth in a Day teeth are rigidly secured to your dental implants from day one.

Can I taste my foods better with All-on-4® Teeth in a Day?

Yes! One of the benefits of All-on-4® Teeth in a Day is that it doesn’t cover the palate (roof of your mouth) like a denture does. You can chew and taste your foods, just as you would with natural teeth.

Does All-on-4® Teeth in a Day look real?

Yes! Dr. Kimmel and Dr. Rushing take their time to get to know each patient and what they want their ideal smile to look like. Your doctor will design your smile with you and our Certified Dental Lab Technician to restore you with a beautiful, natural looking smile.

What does All-on-4® Teeth in a Day feel like in my mouth?

Patients who choose the All-on-4® Teeth in a Day procedure get a smile that looks and functions similar to natural teeth. In some cases, your new teeth may feel a little different at first because it is something new in your mouth. The temporary teeth may feel a little bigger compared to the final teeth to maximize strength during the healing phase. Your final teeth are typically thinner because they are made from stronger materials.

Is All-on-4® Teeth in a Day comfortable?

Patients who choose the All-on-4® Teeth in a Day procedure get a smile that looks and functions similar to natural teeth. You will enjoy complete comfort because the  teeth do not push on your gums or cover the roof of your mouth.

Do you use mini dental implants?

No. Mini dental implants are not recommended for All-on-4® Teeth in a Day. Mini dental implants do not have the long term success rates of full size dental implants. Please be careful if this was recommended to you.

I already have one or more dental implants, can you use them for the All-on-4® Teeth in a Day procedure?

No. Unfortunately, we cannot use your existing implant and it will need to be removed. This is because the implant will not be in the correct position for your new teeth and can compromise the result of your new teeth if used.

Can I be put to sleep for the All-on-4® Teeth in a Day procedure?

The vast majority of our patients comfortably complete the procedure with oral sedation. With oral sedation, patients take a pill that helps them relax and not remember much of the procedure. If desired, an anesthesiologist can be brought in for the procedure for an additional fee.

How much does All-on-4® Teeth in a Day cost?

Many dental offices have separate surgery and restorative fees for the All-on-4® Teeth in a Day procedure. Some patients are even surprised when they receive another cost just for the final teeth. At Quality Denture and Implant Center, we believe in transparent, upfront pricing that includes EVERYTHING from start to finish.  This includes any necessary dental extractions, simple bone grafting, the temporary teeth, AND the final teeth. The total cost for a single arch (upper OR lower) of All-on-4® Teeth in a Day is $15,999.  We only charge an additional $3,500 for Zirconia final teeth (with a lifetime teeth guarantee!)

Will my dental insurance help cover my All-on-4® Teeth in a Day procedure?

Most dental insurances cover a portion of the All-on-4® Teeth in a Day treatment. Our insurance experts at QDIC will help you maximize your insurance benefits. Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts can also help you pay for your treatment. Additionally, we also offer third party finance options and payment plans. Dr. Christopher Kimmel DDS, MAAIP, FICOI and Dr. Tyler Rushing DMD, MAAIP, FICOI are general dentists that have dedicated their training to the study of dental implants and dental implant prosthetics. Both doctors are Masters in the American Academy Implant Prosthodontics and Fellows in the International Congress of Oral Implantology. Implant dentistry is their passion and patients love being able to have all their dental work completed, from start to finish, all under one roof. What makes Quality Denture and Implant Center different from corporate dental offices that offer the same procedure?

At Quality Denture and Implant Center, you can take comfort in knowing your doctors are highly trained and truly care about your health, well-being, and getting you the BEST results possible. Unlike the big corporate offices, you’re not treated like a number and don’t have to worry about seeing a different doctor each time you show up. You will be taken care of from start to finish by the same doctor and team, every step of the way and will be treated like family.

At Quality Denture and Implant Center, we take pride in being privately owned and focused on patient satisfaction rather than hitting monthly quotas, cost cutting, and pleasing shareholders.

What makes Quality Denture and Implant Center different from other dental offices that offer a wide range of services?

Quality Denture and Implant Center focuses almost exclusively on dental implants and dental implant teeth. Our on-site dental laboratory and Certified Dental Laboratory Technician allow us to keep the quality of our products high, while reducing costs that we can pass on to our patients.

Many dental offices that focus on a wide range of services will refer you to see multiple doctors, have confusing pricing, and outsource to third party dental laboratories. This can lead to significantly increased treatment times (sometimes years) and costs that are 50-75% more for the same service.

Will there be pain after the All-on-4® Teeth in a Day procedure?

While some soreness can be expected after any dental procedure, many patients that have suffered with tooth pain and dental infections feel much better after the procedure and the infection is gone. Any discomfort typically subsides after the first 3 days. Your doctor will prescribe medications based on your medical history that can help minimize discomfort and swelling.

How long will I need to be off of work after the All-on-4® Teeth in a Day procedure?

Recovery times vary from person to person.  Some patients recover comfortably over a weekend and some are more comfortable with a week of recovery time. Most of our patients report the night of surgery being the most uncomfortable.  Any swelling will peak around day 2 or 3 and then start to subside. Getting used to your new teeth is quicker with the All-on-4® Teeth in a Day procedure because they are rigidly attached to the implants from day one.

Will I know how to speak with All-on-4® Teeth in a Day immediately?

Most patients don’t notice any significant changes or differences with their new teeth. However, there may be a small adjustment period for some patients as they adjust to their new teeth.  This can be expected with any dental procedure that changes the position of your teeth.  Practicing speaking is the best way to speed up the adjustment process.  Practicing by either speaking or reading out loud is the most effective way to adjust to your new teeth.  Start slow and work your way up to normal conversation speed.

What if I want to make changes to the way my All-on-4® Teeth in a Day temporary teeth look?

We make every effort to ensure you are happy with the way your temporary teeth look.  If you would like to make changes, we are able to completely customize your final teeth.  It is important to not disturb the implants during the healing phase (first 4-6 months).

Can I get food stuck under my All-on-4® Teeth in a Day?

While it is possible to get a small amount of food under the teeth, it can easily be cleaned out with a WaterPik (or other water flosser), Super Floss (threaded floss), or interdental brushes.  You might notice an increase in the space between the temporary teeth and the gums during the healing process.  This could allow for more food trapping.  Don’t worry, this is normal and will be addressed when the final teeth are made.  It is one of many reasons why we utilize a set of temporary teeth during the healing process.

How do I take care of my All-on-4® Teeth in a Day?

For the first 3 weeks after getting your new teeth, it is recommended to only brush the “tooth” part and not the gums.  You can gently swish twice a day with a prescription mouthwash that will keep the gums clean. After 3 weeks, you can begin to gently brush all surfaces of your new teeth.  This is also the time to begin using a water flosser (such as a Waterpik®) on the lowest setting.  You should do this multiple times a day, especially after eating. You can increase the strength by “1” each week until you reach a setting that adequately cleans under the teeth and does not cause discomfort. Alternatively, you can use floss threaders (such as Super Floss®) or proxy brushes to clean under the teeth when you do not have access to a water flosser.

Can All-on-4® Teeth in a Day dental implants fail?

Dental implants have a very high success rate of 95-98%.  If a dental implant fails to integrate with the jawbone, it usually happens during the healing phase.  If a dental implant fails within the first year, your dentist will replace it free of charge. Uncontrolled diabetes, smoking, and certain medications can decrease success rates with dental implants.

Do I still need regular dental visits after having the All-on-4® Teeth in a Day procedure?

Yes! It is important to have your new teeth maintained by your dentist much like natural teeth.  Dental implants don’t get cavities, but they can develop gum disease.  Good home care and regular dental visits help reduce your chances of developing gum disease.  For most patients, we recommend 2 cleanings a year.  At one of these appointments, we recommend having the teeth removed and professionally cleaned along with your dental implants.
